Got this Book for my grandchildren as well and found the illustrations to be wonderfully put. The grandchildren will even just love to look at the pages and follow along with the story. Good Work Janette as usual.

5.0 out of 5 stars Janette Oke can write about animals., April 22 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Impatient Turtle (Paperback)
This was the greatest book I've ever read. The last three pages really showed that Janette Oke is a good writer. The kids are always coming to the creek and swimming, and Pogo has to sit and watch them the whole time they're there, wishing he could be like them. I felt sorry for the turtle because he was always trying to do things that the boys were doing, and he could never do it because he wasn't created to do that kind of stuff. At the end, he realizes that his shell comes in really handy. --Andy

My daughter loves this book. It is about a turtle who wishes he was a boy so he could do all the things boys do, but in the end he is just happy to be a turtle. It gives the message that it is okay if you are not good at everything you try because there are special things about all of us.
