Book Description
Originally published to accompany an exhibition in the acclaimed Canon Photography Gallery this book looks at the work of key British photographers, art directors and stylists who changed the face of fashion photography in the 1990s.
The 1990s saw groundbreaking changes in the world of fashion photography, and photographers, art directors and stylists working in the UK were at the forefront of this revolution. Inspired by popular music, streetstyle and digital technology, they created a highly personal and individualised vision of beauty.
This book reveals, through a series of intimate one-to-one interviews and seminal photographs chosen by the contributors themselves, the inspirations, motivations and challenges which drove them to create some of the most vibrant and experimental commercial image-making of recent years.
Included are contributions from photographers including Nick Knight, Craig McDean, Glen Luchford, David Sims, Nigel Shafran, Corinne Day, Stephan Sednaoui, Juergen Teller, Mario Sorrenti, Inez van Lamsweerde, Rankin and Elaine Constantine; stylists Simon Foxton, Alex White, Anna Cockburn, Melanie Ward, Pat McGrath, Venetia Scott, Vinoodh Matadin and Katy England; and art directors Marc Ascoli, Fabien Baron and Phil Bicker who designed this book.
Book design by Phil Bicker, previously Art Director for The Face and currently Art Director for Calvin Klein advertising.
