HASH(0x9da25840) out of 5 stars An enjoyable well-crafted Regency romance Jan. 21 2015

I read a lot of romances, but write reviews only of the ones I really like (and very occasionally, the ones I find really awful). Before I give some spoilers, let me note the well-written book develops a small corner of the Regency world. The hero and heroine are likeable and there are no out-and-out villains (except the class structure!). Also, though the people certainly have passion, there is nothing beyond some kissing in the book.

Alex (a future Earl) is the main hero and Emma (more than a commoner, but with a rank much less than Alex) is the heroine. Linette (the younger sister of Emma) is engaged to Peter (the younger brother of Alex). Alex and Alex's family are aghast at the engagement and put increasing pressure on Peter and Linette to not marry since their ranks in society are so different. Alex, who is soon to be engaged to Glynnis (a daughter of an earl), and Emma fall in love. Both realize it is even more impossible than the marriage of Linette and Peter. Glynnis and Ridley (Emma's brother) are in love, but Glynnis knows it is impossible. After a lot of machinations (with pain), everyone has a happily-ever-after.
