About the Author
TRISH MAGWOD graduated from Queen’s University with an honours B.A. in communications. After graduating from Peter Kump’s cooking school (ICE) in New York City, she became a personal chef, finally launching Toronto’s dish cooking studio, café, retail business and catering company—all at the same time. Those successes spurred her on to create her television show, party dish. The Globe and Mail recently named her one of the “Taste Makers of Tomorrow.” Trish Magwood lives in Toronto with her husband and two children. She is currently working on her next television concept. I really enjoy most of the recipes in this cookbook, despite the abundance of the author's family pictures. There are some real highlights here - the scones are fantastic, the chicken drumettes are delicious, and the sweet potatoe fries are great. This is not my everyday type of cookbook from a healthy eating standpoint, but certainly where I look when in need of "comfort food".

This book celebrates family through food, and includes childhood favourite recipes that have been tweaked and modernized for today's cook. The design is littered with family pictures and beautifully photographed food, giving the book a light and airy feel while clever design elements such as the antique appearance of the paper compliment the fact that these recipes have been passed down through generations. I truly enjoy Trish Magwood's recipes, and this book definitely lived up to my expectations. The recipes are reliable, simple, and a true celebration of food.
