It's clear that I'm a bit behind the times in reading/rating this novel but having just finished it (I've recently discovered Laura Lippman on my kindle and I've been working my way through her Tess Monaghan books), I wanted to leave my comments.
I enjoyed the storyline. I personally enjoy the Tess Monaghan character. This particular story had an ending that surprised me, but many aspects of it were somewhat easy to predict. As a fun read to pass the time, I'd recommend this for sure. Literary masterpiece? Not quite, but that's ok!

I have to agree with another person, that this is my least favorite in the series so far. (I'm reading them in order) The problem was that the plot didn't interest me, (antique dealers and theft with Edgar Allen Poe thrown in...it got a little confusing even) so I didn't care how it turned out. I stuck with it because I always like to see what's going on with Tess and her city of Baltimore though! I just can't rate Laura Lippman below a 4, even though this hovered lower because it was just a boring plot. I still will follow Tess and friends and her city! On to #7!

I love Laura Lippman's Tess Monaghan mysteries. I never want to put her books down. However, I have been on Ms. Lippman's website and asked what book if any is she going to write as a sequel or a new plot that involves children. Ms. Lippman wrote The Girl in the Green Raincoat. It was a cliffhanger! When I search on Amazon for Laura Lippman, I search "Laura Lippman" in sequence. Come on Laura....respond to website when a loyal reader ask a question!
