I can't believe that this album isn't as well known as Lovedrive, Blackout, Love at First Sting, Savage Amusement and Crazy World cause I think that this is a strong album, so strong that it's one of the few albums where it doesn't have a filler track, how many albums can I say that about? I don't see why people criticize about Uli Roth's singing cause to me it doesn't matter who sings as long as I enjoy it, and I think that it's mean for some people to mention Uli Roth as a bad imitation of Jimi Hendrix, in my opinion, this album is good rock 'n' roll and I'm happy to own this album, I think that the instrumental Night Lights is one of the most beautiful songs they ever recorded and it was a good way to close out the album, unfortunately this album is hard to find and we rock/metal fans think that it shouldn't be the case.

Compaired to any so-called metal bands of the day, Scorps prove they begat all that followed after 1979 with their "Uli essential" albums, and this one is real gem. For 1975, Uli shows why he was untouchable, inspiring all the greats who followed like EVH, YJM, VAI etc. Without question, Uli is the most important player in the evolution of metal and, with maybe the exception of Hendrix, the most important ever, worthy of sharing the playing field of masters like John McG Al Dimeola Allan Hollsworth and Albert Lee.

Maybe one of the first "HEAVY METAL" bands, this German group of guys, really know how to put their songs and music together, forming a binding link of GREAT music! In their latter years, they toned down their music somewhat. I still think their real "glory" days was when Ulrich Roth, played, wrote and sung some of their songs! He was a real and underated GREAT music artist! This is a GREAT Scorpions CD, with ROTH still at guitar!

There are two Scorpions: One with Uli Jon Roth; one without him. This makes all the difference. The Scorpions truly wore ahead of their time with albums like Virgin Killer, Fly to the Rainbow, Taken By Force and In Trance (Toyko Tapes is an excellent and essential live album as well). Roth's neo-classical, Hendrix-infused guitar meshed with Schenker and Meine's hard rock sensibilities created a sound that has never really been replicated in heavy music (perhaps outside of Deep Purple). After Uli left, the Scorpions recorded a couple of decent albums, but generally went on to become commercial and boring. In Trance is a must for anyone who is seeking INNOVATIVE heavy music.
