Book Description
Designed to be a transition guide from your current applications to InDesign.
Expert skills for sophisticated layout and perfect output -- print, PDF, or Web!
Complete coverage of InDesigns revolutionary plug-in architecture and integration with other Adobe applications! Widely anticipated for years, Adobe InDesign is finally here -- and this hot new page layout and design program will give QuarkXPress TM its toughest competition ever! If youre planning to give InDesign a whirl, InDesign In Depth is the authoritative, comprehensive guide you need. Lead author Frank Romano is a world-renowned graphic arts expert who wrote the first QuarkXPress book, and has been intimately involved with InDesign since the earliest test versions. Romano explains the sleek, state-of-the-art InDesign program architecture, which relies more heavily on plug-ins than any previous layout package, and integrates spectacularly well with other Adobe tools, such as Photoshop and Acrobat. Then, learn all the InDesign skills you need for sophisticated page layout- managing frames, objects, type, text, and much more. Romano offers never-before-published tips and tricks for making the most of graphics in InDesign; creating perfect output whether youre outputting to film, PDF, or HTML; importing QuarkXPress and PageMaker documents; scripting, text tagging, and more.
Frank Romano is the Melbert B. Cary, Jr. Distinguished Professor of Graphic Arts at RITs College of Imaging Arts and Sciences. He is author of 16 graphic arts books including PDF Printing and Workflow (Prentice Hall PTR), and the best-selling Pocket Guide to Digital Pre-Press.
David Broudy is the author of books on personalized printing as well as training manuals on QuarkXPress and other desktop programs.
From the Inside Flap
InDesign opens a new chapter in Adobe's publishing strategy. We have spent over five years crafting an architecture and implementing features that will take us and the design community into the next century.
Really great tools allow the designer to create anything that the imagination can conceive, and make the hopelessly complex task seem simple.
We believe that InDesign is a tool that does both.
John Warnock Chairman of the Board & Chief Executive Officer Adobe Systems, Inc.
