"Incense and peppermints, the color of time...",

Alright, so they weren't Zeppelin, but there were alot of bands around in the 60s-70s that made great music and weren't 'huge'. Strawberry Alarm Clock was made up of 6 young kids at the height of the Flower Power era who just wanted to have some fun. 'Incense & Peppermints' became a worldwide hippie anthem, and is still loved today. This album holds many hidden gems; 'Strawberries Mean Love', 'Good Morning Starshine', and the trippy 'Rainy Day Mushroom Pillow' (my favorite).Anyway, give these guys a chance, and give this album a chance. You may just be surprised...

Best 10 Alarm Clock Songs on one Record.,

This review is from: Incense & Peppermints (Audio CD)
This still is on my top 10 list of favourite albums.10 dynamite songs that literally flow together. Their famous eight minute plus 'jam tune ': " The Worlds' On Fire", will blow away anyone who likes the music of that era! However my review may be censored, as I am going to record my record album,(vinyl), of this one on to a CD format, as I have looked after it well and it is still good quality! Reason being. I buy some Japanese imports, and love the fact that the Japanese are leaders at getting this ' obscure ' stuff out there for us, but I'll only consider buying a CD like this;(10 or 11),cuts for $25.00 Canadian or less. That price just kills it for me, even though this is my most sought after album - to - CD wishlist item! - Ron ' Rock ' Larocque,Orleans,On.

The Strawberry Alarm Clock's hit "Incense and Peppermints" is without a doubt one of the defining songs of the 60s "peace, love and hypnotics" counterculture. And it still holds up not only as an artifact but as a solid rock number. Unfortunately, it's the only truly "solid" piece the Strawberry Alarm Clock can be credited with as their album appears to be simply a vehicle for their one and only hit. It's not that the album is below average. By no means. Its just that among some of the outstanding albums released during the era, Incense and Peppermints lacks originality. If you're just looking for the hits without the filler, check out the Nuggets boxed sets
