2.0 out of 5 stars Hey! Didn't I Buy This Already?, Nov 19 2008

This review is from: Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventure Collection (Widescreen) (DVD)
INDIANA JONES-THE COMPLETE ADVENTURE COLLECTION is a four DVD set collection of the four Indiana Jones films. For those who don't know, the four Indiana Jones movies are:

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (that's the original title; I resist Lucas revisionism as much as possible)
INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL

The first three films were released in the spring of 2008 as special edition discs. The only thing new here is the inclusion of INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL. Other than that movie and the extras that are included with it, there is nothing else new here.

Therefore, if you already have purchased the first three movies, just buy a copy of INDIANA JONES AND THE CRYSTAL SKULL (it has the same extras that are included on this disc) and save yourself thirty or forty dollars. If you don't own those movies, I'd still advise you buy them separately. Prices have dropped since the special edition DVDs were released in the spring and you can buy all four of the individual movies for a total of about $5-$10 less for what it costs for this boxed set.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice to have an all-in-one set, Oct 20 2011

Just purchased this boxed set from Amazon.ca. I missed out on seeing the movies in the theatre when they were released (I wasn't a fan of Indy back then), but having recently watched my kids play Lego Indiana Jones on PS3, I thought it might be time to re-visit Indy in the flesh (so to speak). The movies are pretty good; even though the plots are a bit far-fetched at times, a lot of the secondary actors/actresses are pretty wooden in their delivery, and many of the situations that Indy & Co. miraculously escape from require you to suspend your disbelief and/or your knowledge of physics - but overall, not a bad foursome of action/adventure movies. In my opinion, the first (Indiana Jones & the Raiders of the Lost Ark) and the fourth (Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) movies are the best of the lot - the first is the classic, first-time-we-ever-saw-Indy-do-his-thing movie, and the fourth gave the franchise a much-needed shot in the arm by introducing Shia LaBeouf (I won't say in what role, just in case there are some folks out there who haven't seen the fourth movie yet). The second movie (Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom) was pretty ridiculous, in my opinion - it's really cheesy in both plot and stunts, and the whole movie feels like Harrison Ford phoned in his performance because he wanted the money. The third movie (Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade) has Indy up against stereotypically cheesy Nazis, but at least we get the brilliant Sean Connery in the role of Indy's father.

The first 3 movies in this set are single-disc and have limited special features; the 4th movie (Crystal Skull) is a 2-disc edition, with a few special features on the movie disc itself, and the entire second disc devoted to additional special features.

Not a bad set to have on hand for action/adventure afficionados.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indy Widescreen Adventure Collection, Mar 22 2011
This review is from: Indiana Jones: The Complete Adventure Collection (Widescreen) (DVD)
I purchased this dvd set as a gift for my little brother as a Christmas gift. I wasn't hable to find it anywhere in town, but Amazon had it... and the price was great! It arrived on my doorstep just 4 days later, and my little brother was ecstatic to receive it.

Amazon has renewed my faith in online purchasing. It was hassel free, and arrived earlier then stated on my bill. Thanks a bunch!
