Family circumstances require Miss Albina Tierney to travel to her widowed cousin, Lord Stanford, in London, where she becomes governess to his children, Robert and Sarah. She goes reluctantly, and her methods of teaching the children are unorthodox to say the least. Riding with them in Hyde Park one day, she meets Lady Deanna Morrow and the handsome Lord Withington. Lady Deanna has set her sights on becoming the next Countess of Stanford, but he has other ideas. Albina pretends an engagement to him in an attempt to divert Lady Deanna's attention, but her plan backfires dramatically. A kidnap, a riding accident, and a chase to Brighton take place before Albina can curb her indiscreet tongue. Only then does she have a chance of capturing her love in this light-hearted romp through Regency London and Brighton.
