Battling his own personal demons, Police Chief Jonah Westfall knows the dark side of life and has committed himself to eradicating it. With a rising drug threat and never-ending conflict with Tia Manning, a formidable childhood friend with whom he has more than a passing history, Jonah fights for answers—and his fragile sobriety.

But he can’t penetrate every wound or secret—especially one fueled by a love and guilt teetering on madness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to put down, Nov 20 2010
This review is from: Indivisible: A Novel (Paperback)
This book was hard to put down, a great suspense read. The Christian component is tastefully evident and weaved realisitically into the story . The plot and characters were very engaging and I was drawn in quickly. The ending had an unexpected twist to it, which added to the story. My only issue, and it is minor, is how the characters were introduced at the very start. I had to double back and read a few sections over again. A little more introduction to each of them might have helped. After that though, it was a great read. Her ability to draw me into the charaacter's thoughts and emotions was easily done. I enjoyed the book very much and it looks like there will be a subsequent book in 2011. I look forward to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A True Thriller, May 12 2010

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Indivisible: A Novel (Paperback)
I have been a fan of Kristen Heitzmann for a while now, so was very excited when the opportunity came up to review her latest book, Indivisible, through Waterbrook Multnomah's Blogging For Books program.

This book is a large departure from any of Heitzmann's previous books I have read. It is part mystery, romance and thriller all in one! The characters and storyline are wonderfully developed and the book is easy to read. Though there are times in the book that the crime descriptions can get a little over the top, its is not over done. There is a ton of suspense in this book, and you will be guessing right until the end about "whodunit"! If you like suspense/thriller books this is the book for you! It also carries a wonderful Christian message without being pushy!

I highly recommend this book and highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Indivisible, May 13 2010
By L. Brandau - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Indivisible: A Novel (Paperback)
Indivisible is a psychological drama with interesting characters and edgy plot. Each of the main characters has a past from which they are trying to break free. Kristen Heitzmann's superb writing handles several different plot lines without confusing or cluttering the story.

This is not a light Christian read, but if you like thrillers, crime or psychological dramas you will be pleased with Indivisible. Reading the short parts of the book about the animal cruelty is difficult, but the book is balanced with a wonderful side plot about a timid semi-wild animal and its bonding with a human.

I highly recommend Indivisible for readers not afraid of the thriller/crime genre. You won't find the coarse language or steamy scenes that usually go along with that genre, but you will find an exciting plot with flawed people, redemption, and forgiveness. The main characters are either people of faith or those just learning what that means.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book!!, May 13 2010
By Jennifer S. Brandes "jenb05" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Indivisible: A Novel (Paperback)
This was the first book by Kristen Heitzmann I've ever read. But it will not be my last. I love a good mystery novel and this had a little of everything in it. Not only that but the author is a fellow home school mom!!

I got this book and read it in one day. She does such a good job at making you feel a part of the story. From all the characters to the small town. She also keeps you on your toes...I loved how the stories went back and forth. Keeps you..the reader...thinking! I will not say anymore because with a book this good it is hard for me to not give away all the good parts.

I'm going to be looking for more books from this author. Thank you Waterbrook Multnomah for giving me a copy of this book for review.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm a new Heitzmann fan!, May 13 2010

This review is from: Indivisible: A Novel (Paperback)
Three words: Oh. My. Goodness. Where have I been hiding to not have read Kristin Heitzmann's work before? I have heard nothing but highest praises for Kristin's work and was anxious to read one of her books, so when the opportunity arose to review this book, I jumped on the chance! I was NOT disappointed!

Kristin's words drew my mind in immediately. I felt a strong connection with all of the characters. The skill in which Heitzmann writes with is astonishing. The plot, characters, and events transformed into life before me. Amongst the thrilling suspense and romance that Heitzmann uses there is clean Christian values woven in, making this a breathtaking thriller!

I'm not going to say that this was a "light" read.....it's infact the opposite, with emotional twists and edge-of-your seat thrills...but it is an easy read. One that I read in one night. Is this a book that I would recommend with 5 stars? Absolutely! Is this an author I would read books by again? Most definitely! So please....give Kristin Heitzmann's Indivisible a try! It's an adventure you don't want to miss!
