Product Description

Album Description

Double CD + DVD pressing. 2011 release, the definitive Sigur R¢s live experience, comprised of a live album and a 75 minute concert film, capturing Sigur R¢s last show before their well-documented "indefinite hiatus" at the end of 2008. Recorded and shot over two nights at London s Alexandra Palace, at the close of the world tour around their fifth full length album, Med sud ¡ eyrum vid spilum endalaust. The live album is comprised of the full set from Alexandra Palace, played in order with just one omission. The DVD contains Sigur R¢s' second live film following 2007's hugely-celebrated tour documentary Heima and was directed by Vincent Morisset (Arcade Fire s Miroir Noir) and captures the band as a core four-piece for the first time since they were joined by a string section at the start of this century. When taken in together, Inn¡ s live album and film give us an incredible account of one of the most celebrated and influential rock bands of recent years, showing where they've come from, where they ve been, and like all things Sigur R¢s, where it is they will be going next.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, Dec 20 2011
This review is from: Inni 2CD + DVD (Audio CD)
The video quality is very poor. I am a huge Sigur Ros fan, but was very disappointed with this. It is like it was recorded with a cell phone!

3.0 out of 5 stars Predictably Sigur Ros, Dec 3 2011
This review is from: Inni 2CD + DVD (Audio CD)
Sigur Ros is a band years ahead of its time. Built around ambient soundscapes and Icelandic / "Hopelandic" falsetto vocals, their music have served as soundtracks to movies, movie trailers, and television commercials - most people have heard the band's music but may not have realized it.

The DVD concert footage is poorly shot (possibly by monkeys), out of focus, and dreadfully cliched art shots of cymbals, Jonsi's ear, Georg's chest, Orri's foot, and Kjartan's knuckles interspersed with archival footage. Of course, it's in black in white! The band maintains the illusion of mystery that shrouds its music and persona, but what is the point of the film? The best bits are found in the "extra footage", which are filmed without as many distorted and weird camera angles. I suppose that I am disappointed because it is unlikely that I will ever see this band live (living in Hicksville where we are more likely to see multiple nights of Keith Urban or Alan Jackson than a show from Sigur Ros). This film does little to emulate a live concert experience or provide insight into the band.

The music is wonderful - highlights from the band's last four albums - but it's pitch perfect. I love this band, but I'm not sure exactly why this package was released - two CD's and a DVD. Skip this offering and pick up each of the last four studio albums instead.

This review is from: Inni 2CD + DVD (Audio CD)
I have been a fan of Sigur Ros ever since hearing Agaetis byrjun when it first came out. Their DVD "Heima" is totally brilliant, a wonderful film of their live, often unannounced concerts in their native Iceland. Full of rich landscapes and intimate musical settings it is a feast for the eye and the ear and truly encapsulates the spirit of Sigur Ros. I bought Inni on the strength of that DVD. The music is excellent, captured during one of their final performances in 2008, and filmed in London, surely a centre of their fan-base. The DVD is quite dreadful....filmed for the most part in flickering, overexposed and uncentered black and white. I think the cinematographer missed the opportunity and, more importantly, the point. When I watch a band with the complexity of Sigur Ros I want to actually SEE the players and watch them perform. I am not interested in the cinematographer's personal attempt to make the film artistic by whitewashing the footage and showing the players half off the screen backed by a wall of overexposure! Enough said. It's a good enough collection but I shall be revisiting "Heima" for the real Sigur Ros experience!
