The EP, dude,

John Mayer's Inside Wants Out is a great CD, and I have both of his major CDs, Room For Squares and Heavier Things. I don't own Inside Wants Out, but there are some songs on there that are on Room For Squares and I was surprised at how different they sounded. For instance, on No Such Thing, he improvises a lot and he also made an error and did not block it off, as opposed to the one on Room For Squares, it sounds perfect. Too bad 3x5 wasn't on Inside Wants Out, though, it's my favorite song. I recommend John Mayer all the way.

Kudos to John Mayer! It takes a lot of chutzpah (or an unsilencable drive,) to release a cd of such raw power and honesty. This is clearly the result of artistry that was too powerful to be kept inside. I'm so glad that the inside found its way out. At this point, it is too late for this to be an introduction anymore, but it is great fun to witness the evolution of such a talented and committed artist. The melodies are haunting; comforting yet provacative all at once. John Mayer is a musician, an exemplary guitar player, and, of particular interest to me, a master lyricist. He captures a spirit that exemplifies rebellion and faith in such a compelling way as to make me question my own beliefs.Great guitar work on "No Such Thing," "Love Soon," and "Neon." A touch of humor as well, as in "My Stupid Mouth." We all just want to be liked, and to be funny, and is there any one of us for whom it has not at least once, backfired painfully? Thank you John Mayer, for giving expression to experiences we can all relate to.

Pure John Mayer,

Inside Wants Out, released before any of his other albums, is a great CD!! At the time, Mayer the indie/underground/I-play-local-clubs singer had nowhere near the success he currently enjoys. This CD is the raw, pure, unadulterated John Mayer. 'Comfortable' is my personal favorite. The acoustic 'Neon' is incredible too. And 'Victoria' is a good song that I appreciate because it's one of his only songs that is obviously autobiographical. At his March 28, 2004 show (concluding his Heavier Things tour) in Green Bay, Victoria (a local) was there in the second row. Witnessing John truly singing to someone is an insanely amazing and emotional experience! He is awesome (which is only amplified live) and this CD is incredible!! Buy it if you like anything by him, or if you like acoustic/real music.
