Although this set is somewhat pricey, you will never regret the purchase. However, if you have a region-free DVD player, you may prefer to buy the set from Amazon.co.uk - it's offered at a better price than the Region 1 set offered by Amazon.ca.

Every episode of Inspector Morse is here. The set has good quality video transfer, with excellent sound. This is John Thaw's very best role, and he plays the part to perfection. Be sure to watch these in sequence, as there is a story arc that develops for Morse & his sergeant Lewis. If you watch them out of sequence, you may not understand some of the remarks Morse and Lewis make to each other. You also learn many interesting personal things about Morse.

Each episode is approximately 2 hours long. Each story can stand on it's own and they all have something different to offer. Lots of surprises and twists and turns in the stories. Delightfully addictive. I highly recommend to all fans of mystery, murder, and police investigations.

We have been watching the Inspector Lewis series and wanted to go back to the beginning with Morse. The Morse series is good classic stuff, Morse is a likeable, flawed character, maybe too prone to alcohol and seems to rely more on the random details going on in his head than the actual crime details ...is that what they call instinct?. Lots of quick humor along the way. We are only part way through the first series so we have a lot to look forward to...

I'm a sucker for British Detective Series and this was the one that got me hooked! I especially like the way CI Morse and DS Lewis interact on the screen. And that SI Strange character is one in a million. I've watched this series a number of times. In my opinion the plot is secondary to the character development in each episode. You won't be disappointed even with the less then stellar picture (especially in the earlier episodes).

They have done a good transfer on this set. Especially considering it was shot on 16 mm film, as were most British series of the time. Cheapest to order the set directly from the UK, and get a Region-free DVD player from Amazon.

Great stories here, but region 2 dvd's require additional player.
Why is Morse DVD's not available for North America as is Touch of Frost - both are English.

Great series. Unlike many shows, it has held up well over time. I have enjoyed watching all the episodes over again.

The reason I don't like it is that it is the British version and won't play on North American equipment. I LOVE Inspector Morse - - - and wish I could play this set. However, now I have to return it and hope they will give me a refund. There was absolutely no indication anywhere when I ordered it that it would be the UK version, which is really not on.

Good show. Not as good as Inspector Lewis but better than most North American TV shows. Incredible customer service from this vendor. Highly recommend them.
