In The Harvey Milk Institute Guide to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Internet Research, editors Alan Ellis, Liz Highley, Kevin Schaub and Melissa White offer an invaluable resource for academic, social and political research. Observing that pursuing information on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) issues is still somewhat difficult today, the editors provide two chapters on Internet research practices and tools (including a discussion of determining the credibility of electronic information), and then several more based on different professional fields including Queer Studies, Human Sexuality Studies, Social and Biological Sciences, Law and Philosophy, etc. Each of these later chapters lists numerous Internet sites and some non-Web resources.

Alan Ellis, Ph.D., Is co-author of several books, including Gay Men at Midlife: Age Before Beauty; Sexual Identity on the Job: Issues and Services; and A Family and Friend's Guide to Sexual Orientation. He is co-chair of the Board of Directors of the Harvey Milk Institute. Liz Highleyman, CPH, is a freelance writer, editor and health educator who witnessed the birth of the World Wide Web while working at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. She has also edited and contributed to several books on AIDS as well as on bisexuality. Kevin Schaub, MA, is the Executive Director and Dean of the Harvey Milk Institute and serves as the Festival Director for the National Queer Arts Festival each summer. Melissa White, MFA, is a queer bisexual activist, writing teacher and non-profit fundraiser.
