by *either* name, this is 5 star information Oct. 25 2011

10/25/11: I will update this review a little at a time as I am reading this book for the second time. From the first reading two years ago, I can confidently give it five stars right out of the gate, for being exactly what it says in the listing. It really is a textbook, not a self-help book and geared toward a doctor's perspective to care for the patient. I just happen to *be* the patient in this case. Even though some of this information was either over my head or I needed another reference source to better understand what I read, I am going to read this again as part of a plan to re-boot my health.

Of note: I saw this book being used as THE textbook by some young doctors I visited at the Southwest College of Naturopathy, which impressed me. Also made me chuckle just a little since I had read it before my doctors had, lol!

Second note: I found this information about the "TWO" titles or editions of this book:

Re: "Integrative Rheumatology" published as "Nutritional and Botanical Treatments for Autoimmune Diseases"

- In July 2006 a small batch of Integrative Rheumatology was published under the title "Nutritional and Botanical Treatments for Autoimmune Diseases" Same content as the original Integrative Rheumatology. Why the different title? Because many people--including doctors--don't understand what "integrative rheumatology" means, i.e., an integrative/ nutritional/ botanical/ pharmacologic/ functional approach to patient assessment and treatment."

(This quote is from the publisher and can be googled under either book title.)

I was so impressed with the information and Dr. Vasquez's point of view that I almost bought this book again under the alternate title, not knowing they were one in the same book.

Updates to follow.

Breaks information down to a level most people can understand and also is detailed enough for a clinical setting. Great book for the shelf. I have 2 copies.
