Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

It's not McNenny's fault that Carrell's thriller, hinging on the burning of the Globe Theater in 1613, turns out to be much ado about nothing. McNenny reads at a heart-thumping pace, which is perfect for Kate Stanley, a theater director and former scholar, who is both chasing the past and being pursued by killers in the present. McNenny's performance gives Kate the right combination of brainy sleuthing and brainless commitment to a dangerous investigation. She does not fare as well with the other characters, especially the men. In particular, a London inspector in charge of the murder case of Kate's Harvard mentor sounds Indian or Pakistani, even though he is from the Caribbean. Listeners will ignore the peccadilloes as they are caught up in Kate's breathless trips from London to Cambridge and even the West Coast. For those interested in this popular genre of Shakespeare revised and revisited, the catchy plot and McNenny's exuberant performance are both gripping and vastly entertaining.

From AudioFile

Kathleen McNenny narrates this action-filled mystery about long-lost Shakespeare manuscripts in an able and entertaining manner. Admittedly, the action is farfetched, but McNennys smooth voice and upbeat pacing remind us its also lots of fun. When American Shakespeare scholar Kate Stanley receives a mysterious box from a friend who is soon murdered, she sets off to solve the mystery and the crime. McNenny portrays Kate with the right mix of academic navet and breathless enthusiasm. She has fun with a range of British accents and is particularly skilled at creating believable male characters, from a seductive private detective to a posh church official. 4.0 out of 5 stars Strong Historical Fiction, Mar 3 2009
By MacFly (Regina, Saskatchewan) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)
Interred with their Bones, by Jennifer Lee Carrell, is a thriller where the characters race against each other to discover a lost manuscript by William Shakespeare. It reads a bit like a Lara Croft movie with lots of action, double crosses and ancient crypts. There is a great amount of detail about the life of Shakespeare including various theories on whether or not he actually wrote the plays that have been credited to him. The book was good although a bit complicated with all of the historical information. Carrell is an author I will check out again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Shakespeare lover's DaVinci Code, Sep 4 2008
By Anglophile (Toronto, ON) - See all my reviews
The author, as a professor of Literature at Harvard, displays her impressive knowledge of Shakespearean facts and lore and puts it all together in a truly exciting story. If you liked the clue-finding, killer-on-your-trail structure of the DaVinci Code, and you have an interest in Shakespeare, you'll love this novel.
