This is what I heard from my four and five year olds after reading this book to them. They absolutely loved it. The prose flowed beautifully as a read aloud. The illustrations in this book were beyond gorgeous. They are frame worthy. I have not been this awed by illustrations in a very long time. The font in this book is very fitting of the story, but is not the easiest for some early readers to read. As a read aloud, I could not ask for more in a Halloween picture book. This is a Schiffer Publishing released books and they, in my opinion, have some of the best quality picture books on the market. This would be a stunning gift.

Into the Pumpkin is a great book with ghosts, ghouls, witches, and other Halloween characters planning a party in an old haunted castle. The illustrated pictures will delight your little one while reading the story.

Here is one poem that my grandson laughed so hard at,
The Ghosts Are All Flying
And Turning Around.
They're Getting So Dizzy,
They Can't Touch The Ground.

Also the back cover with a saying like this gets your child ready for some scary fun:
Whoever You Are,
No Matter What Age,
Don't Be Afraid...

With Halloween upon us, I am definitely ready for a cute seasonal story, and this one definitely fit the bill. Into the Pumpkin may be one of the most beautiful Halloween books I have seen. Linda Franklin has created a delightful book with colorful, detailed pictures. It is a charming tale of a Halloween party and all of the invited guests (from spiders to spirits). The party begins with invitations going out, and guests are greeted with a cup of witches brew; soon skeletons begin dancing and ghosts begin singing. In a charming rhyme, the party continues, and Halloween is a delightful night for the pumpkins to celebrate. While this isn't necessarily a story with a specific plot, it is a catchy poem.
Although this is a Halloween book, it is so sweet and beautiful that it is definitely worth reading more than just this time of year!
