1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money Jan. 28 2010

All you get are 30-odd pages of acronyms and their definitions - nothing useful it the way of details concerning the initiation of calls or theory on trunked radios. It just says they "do this" or "do that". I wanted to know the logic that covers channel allocation and what goes on on the control channel.

1.0 out of 5 stars Overly simplified and quite misleading on many aspects July 13 2009
By JimTheScotRadioman - Published on Amazon.com
This was a promising book however I found it to be overly simplified on its descriptions and quite misleading on not only the types of radio systems but also their manufacturer's and development history and applications. I grade this book an F for failure on a scholastic scale and on a proper guidance and basics building.
1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the purchase price Oct. 2 2013
By dutch schultz - Published on Amazon.com
This book is really short, about a quarter of it is just intro and the advertisements at the end. The margins take up most of the page space so there is not much text and what is there is not evenly descriptive. Illustrations are poor. In my opinion there was very little LMR information in this book.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great quick-read primer Aug. 14 2013

Not sure what the fuzz is about in other reviews. Yes, a 600 page book will provide greater insight. Yet, these brief introductions provide a good way for someone like a management consultant to get up to speed rapidly. The visual depictions are especially helpful. Think PowerPoint

These books provide a quick explanation and tutorial for the subjects, but they are over priced for the content they provide. A textbook would be a better choice for in depth understanding of the topic. The are great for learning the basics of the topic and as an introduction.
