Book Description

Sept. 30 2009 1605470635 978-1605470634 10

The Tenth Edition of this best-selling text for LPN/LVN students provides comprehensive coverage of introductory medical-surgical nursing in a highly visual and easy to understand manner. This content equips readers with the practical knowledge and skills to manage nursing care of clients in today's changing healthcare environments and eases the transition from classroom to clinical practice. The text has been updated to reflect the latest equipment and trends in health care, and includes hundreds of new full-color illustrations and photographs.

Over 30 care plans are included, addressing common conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, cancer, myocardial infarction, stroke, diabetes mellitus, modified radical mastectomy, and chronic renal failure. "Stop, Think, and Respond" exercises in every chapter encourage rapid recall and practical assimilation of content.

A bound-in CD-ROM and a companion Website include a Spanish-English audio glossary, Concepts in Action animations, Watch and Learn video clips, NCLEX®-style review questions, plus the full text online.

This book is much easier to read and navigate through, than the fundamentals of nursing text. Wish I had gotten it sooner

5.0 out of 5 stars the book you will want to keep and refer to often July 8 2011

OK, I know the size is overwhelming. When I first recieved it, my husband looked at the thickness, and replied that he would quit nursing school if it was him. And, I did feel that way the first few chapters. But I learned to read ahead and take notes before lecture, and actually came to love med surg and especially this book. Don't quit!! I graduated in June and you can do it too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad Sept. 10 2012

Great and easy way to carry around your book especially a nursing textbook. The issue is that Kindle do not use pages for this textbook, rather it uses locations which will be hard to follow during lecture or when trying to locate a page. Also, on the description for the Kindle ebook, it will also include an access online for it's additional resources, saying that this includes the CD for online resources. This one I could not find at all, so I will not have a chance to know answers for the NCLEX reviews at the end of each chapter.
I only gave this a try, just to see if it will make my lectures easier, we shall see.
Please leave me a comment, if someone finds a way to go to the online resources, thank u!

2.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but... Dec 1 2010

Good info, but I didn't like that the answers are not in the back of the book like usual, they are located on the disc that comes with the textbook. Very inconvenient I hardly use it because of this, truly a waste of my money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book came in very good condition! Jan. 18 2014

Bought the book on a Sunday at 5pm, and only received notification of it being shipped on Tuesday 5pm. I did however receive the book within the acceptable time limit. The book itself is a brand new copy which has never been used. I asked the seller whether it came with the prepu questions (the book does come with access to online E book) access code, and they sent me a generic email saying all their books come directly from the publisher, and therefore it would come with everything a new book has. NOT TRUE. New books come with a separate card insert which has an access code to the prep u questions section of the publishers website. After getting the book without prepu - did a little search and was a little surprised to find this same seller selling the prepu questions access code separately on Amazon. Well played sir!
