I wasn't sure what exactly to expect, overall, Ironclad got mediocre reviews and myself not being a Paul Giamatti, I was skeptical. Thankfully my skepticism was short lived; acting was great, the cast seemed knowledgeable in ancient history, the sets were spot on and era accurate, plenty of realistic and believable gore, overall this was a great movie.
I'd recommend it to anyone wanting their medieval movie fix, there are far too few as it is, if you've been thinking about watching or buying it, hesitate no more!

Ironclad is a little known story of England's King John who ruthlessly sought vengeance on those who forced him to sign the Magna Carta, in an attempt to denounce it. There's a good cast including Paul Giamatti, James Purefoy and Brian Cox (to name a few). The film is often gory in depicting many battle sequences, but portrays a very interesting history of how a small group of rag-tag warriors defended a castle against a thousand mercenaries. As a bonus feature, there is also much to be learned from writer-director-producer Jonathon English's audio commentary. Ironclad is recommended for anyone interested in medieval times and battles.
