Product Description

This series of short biographies covers the lives of 24 leading humanitarians, peacemakers and conservationists, all of whom have made a major contribution to the world around them. This book looks at the life of the scientist Issac Newton. In the summer of 1666 Issac Newton was at university in Cambridge when the Great Plague began to spread. It was during this time that he developed ideas on the theory of gravity. He then worked with light and optics, telescopes, and devised his Laws of Motion. Newton followed Galileo's tradition with careful experimentation and recording of results. His work has now become the foundation for many of today's scientific developments and his theories play a part in almost every modern constructions from television, lasers and fibre optics, to Formula 1 racing cars, skyscrapers, revolutionary medial apparatus and simple toys.
