Elvis Presley does the clam--a now-forgotten dance--in this 1964 potboiler in which the King stars as a singer who gets a gig in Ft. Lauderdale with his combo but has to baby-sit a mobster's teenage daughter (Shelley Fabares) as part of the deal. Fabares's character, looking for a break, runs wild and makes life difficult for Elvis. The film has the usual "Elvis movie" bounce and wolfish jokes and glossy disposability, but the endearing (and smart) presence of Fabares as the love interest adds a bit more zip than usual. Songs include the title track, plus "Puppet on a String," "Do Not Disturb," and "Let's Party Tonight." Directed by Boris Sagal (The Omega Man). --Tom Keogh

Product Description

Fun, music and Elvis all happen in this romp boasting one of the best backdrops of any Elvis Presley movie: the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, with its showpiece Space Needle, monorail and more. The King plays pilot-for-hire Mike, whose hope of starting his own flying business is grounded by the gambling of his co-pilot Danny (Gary Lockwood). The pair hitch to Seattle, where Mike finds romance, Danny finds easy marks and both find problems prior to a Happy Ending. Kurt Russell, star of 1979's Elvis biopic, plays the child who wallops Mike in the shins. And among the 10 songs are I'm Falling in Love Tonight, Relax and the gold record One Broken Heart for Sale. If he's selling, we're buying!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Complete, But a Great Start
I bought this collection specifically for Charro, Elvis' western effort. Rather than buy the stand-alone DVD, I decided to spend a few dollars more, and pick up this collection. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars A VHS re-release would have been nice too!!
No complaints with the movie itself. The 2-star rating is for not making a VHS release also. We have all the other Elvis movies on VHS (except for Girls-Girls Girls). Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The best soundtrack of Elvis in the 60's
This movie is, to me, the best Elvis did in the 60's, surpassed only by Viva las Vegas. The soundtrack is great, the majority of the songs belongs to good old rock'n'roll, and the... Read more
