Witty and opnionated in the best possible way, July 19 2009

Cadogan Guides are generally terrific and Italian Riviera & Piedmont is no exception. While these books have loads of basic background information on history and culture as well as insider dope on special places to see, places to eat and places to avoid, they have fewer photos than some other guides. Even without the illustrations, they are superior to the competition in most important ways.
The authors are well-informed and dont shrink from calling a spade a spade or tourist trap a tourist trap. Weve been using these guides for years and find them absolutely essential for travel in Italy and France.

This is a terrific guide book without an equal. We live in the Piedmont, and I grab this guide every day. It has amazing detail and insight.

Best of the Best, July 18 2011

This guide took us to the most amazing little places, restaurants, and sights. It is well worth it and out of all the guides we had for this area, including Rick Steves, Blue Book, and others I can say that we used this one the most. The listings in areas around Alba and Bra are amazing and the cheese shop they recommended was awesome. On the Coast, the velor makers who only speak italian was an amazing inside Italy experience that you would never get anywhere else. Highly recommended.
