Review

“…Cottin’s digital illustrations are sleek and modest, while Orozco, similarly understated in her anthropomorphism, presents graceful observations of animal instincts.”
—Publishers Weekly

“…This attractive title successfully introduces children to different traits that contribute to congenial living and is appropriate for group sharing or individual browsing. It differs from many other animal books because of its emphasis on humans learning from animal behaviors”
—School Library Journal

2.0 out of 5 stars My kid's did not care for it much. Nov 6 2012
By J. Smith - Published on Amazon.com
I appreciate that I won this book off of Librarything Giveaway program and as much as I wanted to rate this higher, I just couldn't. I read to my children all the time. They really enjoy story time and can sit for up to an hour listening but this book just did not capture there attention at all. The wording and information was vague and it felt like it had no real ending. The illustrations were also very plain and not very vivid which children really want in a book. Again I appreciate the win and just because my children didn't enjoy this book does not mean that yours won't. Give it a try at your local library.
4.0 out of 5 stars Educational and Informative Nov 27 2012
By LadyD - Published on Amazon.com
A clever book title bridges an understanding of animal behavior for children to learn that animals have feelings, too. I found the text to be very educational and informative, beginning with a description of the Howler Monkey's selfless concern for the well being of others. Interesting illustrations depict the animal community of elephants and flamingos to be one of a generous community. Overall, a strong sense of harmony (embracing diversity) is seen throughout the animal kingdom, showing strong attributes of the penguin, armadillo and wildebeest, to name a few. I especially like how the book cover becomes a free animal poster. This would be a great addition for school, home library and gift giving.
