5.0 out of 5 stars One to Own! March 8 2009
One of the best movies of the 90's and maybe Oliver Stone's best movie overall gets the deluxe treatment on Blu-Ray in a very nice coffee table edition. An absolute Must Own if you're a fan of the film and a dramatic upgrade of the standard-def DVD. Features a nice 1080p Video transfer, decent audio and some nice extras including a couple of lengthy docs and some deleted scenes. But the real draw here is the film itself, which is more than 3 hours long, but captivating from the first frame to the last. I've seen JFK probably around 8 times since it's initial release and I still get something new out of it with each viewing. In my opinion, JFK is one of the 3 best films of the 90s alongside Schindler's List and Pulp Fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars great movie Aug. 23 2005

i dont know much details about the jfk murder. and many people love picking and choosing what to beleive or not.. my common sense tells me that even if 10% of the facts presented in the movie are true and 90% are false, the lone gunman theory is rubbish and must be discredited. maybe the actual Who and the Why is still up in the air, but nothing can make me beleive (other than proving 100% of the "facts" in the movie to be completely false) that oswald acted alone. you can love or hate garrisson or shaw or kennedy etc all you want, opinions aside, facts remain facts (if they indeed are facts). so if you want to convince anyone that oswald acted alone, dont just mention that theres many inaccuracies in the movie. im sure there are... but all it takes is 1 pure fact to prove the lone gunman theory wrong. along with any theory for that matter. anybody who can write a book about this and have the guts to call it CASE CLOSED has some nerve.. talk about arrogance. i will read that book and form my own opinion. but it better prove beyond reasonable doubt that oswald is the only murderer. i do find garrisons conspiracy a little fishy, but i do admit that there must be something fishy underneath all this.. what the government claims truly happened simply makes no sense.
all in all, the movie was excellent and opened my eyes and made me want to learn more about this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shocking and thought provoking July 10 2004
Okay, I have a little trouble with the swearing but guess people can ignore it or get a blocker. That said, this was an outstanding movie and really made you think about the unthinkable. There are coverups that most of us have no clue about. The higher ups regardless of what people may think pull many strings to get done what they want done. Those we have always sought to trust can also be the ones who betray us. War is money and I am convinced, that the murder of JFK was a well orchestrated event. Buy the DVD with the accompaining documentary. It amazes me how some people refuse to believe it. BELIEVE IT. I love America but we are no saints here. Money and power is always a driving force. Don't ever think it can't happen here. Kevin Costner gives a brilliant performance and the impassioned speech in court toward the end of the movie that he gave portraying Jim Garrison drew me in like nothing I have ever heard. Watch "Thirteen Days" first than this one and rethink the situation and see what you come up with.

JFK is one of the best movies of the 90's, witch i agree with Roger Ebert. The excessive information on the John F. Kennedy gives JFK a thrilling also emotional feeling. With the great cast with great performance. Costner, Spacek, Mathau, Sutherland, Bacon, Pesci, and Gary Oldman with a exceptional performance as Oswald. Also included in this cast (Who by the way got a Acamedy Award Nominee for Best Supporting Actor) Tommy Lee Jones. Directed by Oliver Stone (Do I need to say anything about Stone?!)
I have JFK "Special Directors Cut Oliver stone edition (2 dvds)" witch has a slightly noticable better transfer than the first dvd by warner brothers. A brand new 5.1 DD witch is powerful. You will find another DVD tucked inside the cover. This has a good theatrical trailor, it also has documentaries on the assination, but the best of all the large amount of minutes of DELETED/EXTENDED SCENES! These great as the movie itself, watch the one with Oswald's words from his grave, with a great performance by Oldman! Great movie, and DVD!
(In my point of view!)

I can however, write a review for this movie, This is the best Oliver Stone film I have seen so far, I have seen a lot of his films and some of them are good, some are great and some are terrible, this is none of those, this is his best film, the acting by Kevin Costner is terrific, forget Costner, everyone is terrific, it is well structured, consistent, entertaining, informative and depressing. The DVD is terrific, loaded w/plenty of extras which DVD buffs like me can keep ourselvs occupied with, picture and sound, no complaints there, Stone make a nice package of this movie. The movie is about Costner's charecter investigating the JFK murder three years after he was killed, it goes deeper into the life of Osawald and his role as the murderer or not the murderer, it goes into suspicions about the CIA's, the FBI's and the whole goverment's potential role in the murder of the greatest president on the face of this nation, John F. Kennedy.
