5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Resource for Multimedia Storytelling and Journalism 2.0 Mar 10 2010
By M. Sharon Baker - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
JournalismNext is a fantastic resource for multimedia reporting and is a must-read for novice and veteran journalists making the transition to Journalism 2.0 and beyond. It's also great for citizen journalists, PR and marketing pros looking to better understand how journalism is evolving.

Author Mark Briggs offers How-Tos for basics like RSS and blogging and provides much needed tutorials on Twitter, crowd-powered collaboration, going mobile and telling stories with photographs. He shares the steps required to tell stories with video, audio and explains what equipment might be best for your budget. And he offers tips on building audiences and managing conversations.

Most importantly, Mark provides a check list and a kick-in-the-pants to Get Going at the end of each chapter. JournalismNext should be required reading at journalism schools and newsrooms around the world. Thanks for a great book Mark.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written and useful information July 27 2010
By Radiogirl - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I really enjoyed reading "Journalism Next". The information is organized so that it flows. You can read the text in order or based on the chapters that you are most interested in reading. I enjoyed the 'Tech Innovators' sections: industry professionals and their thoughts on how things operate at the media outlets where they work.

The language of the book is straight-forward. There are lots of images to compliment the topics. The book is just a wealth of resources.

I won't be able to use it solely for a text for the courses that I teach, but I will be referencing one chapter for one of my courses.

Oh, and Briggs recognizes that the text might be outdated in what, two years, and he often references that you should search online for updated information.

Simple overview of where media is going and what media practitioners need to know to survive. Should be required reading for both new journalists and journalism dinosaurs who refuse to change.
