Well all know that social media is the way of the future, and that advertising through social media is an absolute must. Every book that covers this topic offers a how-to for how to be successful, and some of them can be very boring. This book I quite liked because it isn't a manual, of a step by step, but rather it teaches us to how make stories in social media to draw in consumer's attention.

The book is written in an easy and light-hearted style, making it engaging and interesting.

I have never read any other material by this author, but after this I do intend to pick them up.

Should you buy? yes.

I can't say the author is wrong in his points. However, the book has many issues. Most importantly, the lessons are trivial: "A great marketing story is one that sells stuff." or "You know that the buyers of that purse are generally twenty-five-year-old females. Does it make sense to send that content about a purse to your fifty-five-year-old male customers who primarily come to you for belts? Of course not.". Most of the book is just blurring the line between insights and common sense. Another time he goes saying Twix made a big mistake not putting their logo on a picture, on the other hand it may not really be a big mistake, since the bars are easily recognizable... It sounds more like improvised comments made on the fly than an intellectual accomplishment. Finally, and least importantly, I find the author terribly annoying. The book is peppered with lines like "Even I screw up sometimes!" which are hardly excusable in the context.

Business has changed, the platforms are evolving, Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy, Social Worldso you need to prepare for the late rounds. In today's volatile market, a glass jaw will not enable you to go the distance. Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook will take you from journeyman to champion. Gary is the modern day Cus D'amato, let him teach you to stick and move, advancing you towards the main event.

Now you may currently think Gary Vaynerchuck is a genius, or you think he's an intolerable loudmouth.

If you have anything to do with a company that would like to reach its customers more effectively and become more popular you need to read this book immediately!

Gary gives an excellent review of what each social media platform is good for and how to best to structure your posts on the platforms natively. The only thing this book lacks is the strategy component (ie. Which platform is best for your company, how frequently should you jab or right hook, how to translate these posts into additional followers, etc).
