4.0 out of 5 stars Jack Frost was very likable. Dec 6 2003
Format:VHS Tape
This was the first of many Rankin/Bass holiday specials I saw on TV (the only ones I owned on video being the popular "Rudolph" and "Peter Cottontail.") I was pleased by this one too. In fact, I recall seeing part of it once last year on TV too--it also seems to be one of the more popular ones. Anyway, the idea that a girl is in love with "Jack Frost" and then Jack Frost, who's lonely, becomes human because he thinks she really loves him, was, I thought, quite adorable. So "Jack Snip" the tailor moves in with the girl's family. I liked the song they sang while unwrapping an empty box and pretending it was "just what they'd always wanted." It was sad, yet cute. Snip, the snowflake-maker, followed Jack to Earth to help him reach his human-like goals by spring and remain a human, and also to keep out of trouble. The story only began to drag a little when the "k-nights" came into it, and the snowed-in castle. In the end, the girl marries the man she truly loves, her "knight in golden armor." And of course, Jack Frost is present at her wedding. It's really a very nice tale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another extraordinary film by Romeo Muller! Nov. 21 1999
Format:VHS Tape
"Jack Frost" tells the story of how the wintry sprite is transformed by his love for someone very special to him! And the great voice actor Paul Frees (best known as the voice of Boris Badenov in "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle") does an amazing job as the voice of the villain, Kubla Kraus. Don't miss him singing the "Rub-a-Dub" song! (Which is usually cut from TV broadcasts of this film.) "Jack Frost" is another extraordinary film by Romeo Muller, who also wrote the classic Animagic, Rankin/Bass Christmas films, "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snowman," among many other enchanting tales.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Cool Christmas from Rankin Bass Dec 19 2001
Format:VHS Tape
It just isn't Christmas without the classic Rankin Bass holiday specials, and Jack Frost (not to be confused with the Michael Keaton or horror films of the same name) is the perfect film to welcome winter. Filled with the usual musical numbers, a celebrity narrator (Buddy Hackett as the ground hog) and two evil villans. Jack falls in love and wants to become human but it doesn't quite work out as planned. In fact, its almost a Shakespeare tragedy (without the death of the hero of course) by the time it ends. Nite quite a happy ending, but a wonderful adventure all the same. A note to fans of The Saint: Jack Frost has his own little whistled theme throughout the film.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Groundhog Day Movie Feb. 1 2001
By Joey D
Format:VHS Tape
This really is a Groundhog Day/winter video, not a Christmas one. With all the great Rankin/Bass classics there is no need to squeeze this into your Christmas collection; rather, keep it hidden until Groundhog Day to whip up some more holiday fun. I just showed the movie to a class of third graders and they really liked it, but the ending did shock them and pretty much went over their heads (as did half the humor in the show). Nevertheless they laughed at "Dommy" and all the bad guys and pretty much followed it all the way through. Basically, it's a fun video and you can't go wrong with Rankin/Bass and Buddy Hackett tunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite holiday film! Dec 6 2001
By mm6189
Format:VHS Tape
I think that this movie is one of the best that Rankin/Bass ever created. I got the DVD version and it is really much better than the one I recorded off the 25 Days of Christmas. Anyway,I was caught by surprise with the "Rub-a-Dub" song. It wasn't on the television airing. Neither was the part with the argument between Kubla and Dommy about Kubla winning Elisa for his wife. Wierd though that Kubla was actually talking for Dommy when he said that he couldn't win her for his wife. This movie is two thumbs up! And Jack Frost is SOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it Dec 8 2001
Format:VHS Tape
I love this movie during the holiday season. They would play it on TV during the 24 days of Christmas, and I would HAVE to watch everytime. When I missed it I was upset, so I went on-line and found it here. I was so happy. Now I can watch it year 'round. I'm 20 yrs old, and the boy I babysit for that is 8 loved it too. I don't think its a bad ending either, I think it teaches us that not everyone gets what they want, but they get whats best for them. A good winter season pick.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Christmas Classic! Nov. 12 2009
By Jackson Spines TOP 500 REVIEWER
When I was a kid, this was one of my most favourite specials to watch right around Christmas time. It has everything, a great story line, great characters, great narration and catchy songs. In the words of the most memorable song in the movie, "It's just what I always wanted, it's perfectly right, it's just what I always wanted, a Christmas delight!"

5.0 out of 5 stars The funniest movie i have ever seen!!!!!!!!! Feb. 1 1999
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
My Friends and I went to the movie store and the "classy" hologram caught my eye, I quickly rented it and laughed my butt off. Everything in this movie is so low quality (even the crappy dialogue). This movie is a must see for any "b" movie fan, or any one who wants a good laugh.
