This book brings to light the failures of an overly bureaucratic organization that is the U.N. Similarly to today's big corporations, the amount of paperwork needed to execute the simplest things is just unimaginable, except that instead of costing the corporations money, in this case, the cost was in human lives. Although some of the facts presented by Lt.Gen Dallaire have been disputed by different sources, the overall portrait painted by his book is undoubtedly very realistic and gives the reader a shocking insight on what happened during this crisis. Very good book and will recommend it.

A book I could hardly put down as I read the story from Dallaire's view point. A tragic story of the failure of the world powers to act. A good insight in how the UN and its members function. This tragedy's lessons are applicable to today's politics and world strife. In the end many generations either killed or physically and emotionally damaged forever. I fully understand the emotional impact on Romeo Dallaire's. What can we do now ?
