This review is from: Jamie Oliver's Food Escapes: Over 100 Recipes From The Great Food (Hardcover)
On one hand, if you've read one Jamie Oliver cookbook, you've read them all. On the other, "Food Escapes" shines not so much because of its recipes but because of the cultural information it contains. The book culls from the food traditions of Andalucia (Spain), Venice (Italy), Stockholm (Sweden), Marrakesh (Morocco), Athens (Greece) and the Midi-Pyrenees (France); throughout his journeys, Oliver learns the techniques behind making classic dishes as well as the history behind the people who eat them. The book provides over 100 easy-to-follow recipes that encourage the non-chef to step into the kitchen. As usual, Oliver highlights the advantages of simplicity, quipping: "You can pretty much make anything taste good."
