Haines has such a "you can do it" attitude, and I find myself repeating some of her guidance as I paint. That reminder that as an artist, you are in control (even in a difficult medium like watercolour), and that you can paint anything you want is something I really needed to hear, even after seventeen years painting in watercolour.
I love the way Haines shows confidence in her viewers as well -she doesn't feel like she needs to paint every detail into her paintings, and those suggestions of detail and form are what make her watercolours so special, and something most watercolour artists aspire to.
This beautiful book will bring you joy if you paint. This is not about Illustration
or technicalities but about letting go and finding 'the zone' Go for it.

I like the book and the explanations are good. You can see a correlation between brush strokes of Chinese brush painting and typical watercolour painting.Published 18 months ago by jasmine
