I take a women's kickboxing class once per week but I agree, if you're a newbie to this, check out the quick tutorial before starting. I loved Level 1 of this DVD so much, I went straight to Level 2! Quick, great & fun workout...really worked up a sweat!
I found it a bit hard to follow at the beginning. However, the tutorial is very helpful. I actually watched it every time i felt i was stuck in certain move.
I have only tried the Abs workout (there are three different workouts to choose from) and man does this girl deliver! 2minutes in I was working up a sweat and there is no stopping! I love that twenty minutes is easy enough to squeeze into a tight schedule and I feel it the next day too-awesome!
Jillian is always big on form over reps but in this workout if you want to stay on the beat/count you might go off form. Maybe that's just me.
For sure it's a solid workout, but keep in mind that 20 minutes alone might not get you the actual calorie burn you want for the day #300-500 is a good zone#. So if you can handle both workouts back to back, that will get you what you want for calories.
Don't know how many calories you're burning or what your exercise intensity/heart rate is? Get a heart rate monitor. I am loving my Polar FT7 bought right here on amazon.ca, Polar FT7 Women's Heart Rate Monitor #Red/Silver# to help me know both.
Put the HR monitor together with your workout dvds and you start exercising toward more personal goals rather than how long a workout is.
I highly recommend this DVD if you don't have a lot of time to workout, or to add this to any strengthening/weight training sessions for cardio. If you have sensitive or bad knees, this could be hard as you're doing a lot of pivots and twists for the kicks, so take it slower and do less reps until your knees get stronger.
