I'd been looking for this definitive biography of John Donne without luck until I tried Amazon. For anyone interested in a thorough study of the poet and his works, this is an essential book. The average reader, however, would be quickly bored by the dry scholastic approach of the late R.C. Bald. It is a highly detailed, well-footnoted biography, but it is not for the casual reader.
