“No serious wine tourist should hit the road without reference to

John Schreiner’s Okanagan Wine Tour Guide.” —Laurie Carter,

Bloganagan

“John Schreiner’s is the palate I will trust blindly because he (a) always gets his facts right (it comes from spending many years as a business and financial journalist), and (b) knows not just what he likes but how to make it himself. If he says it’s there, there it is. If he says it’s good, you’ve got to get it. At $19.95, the Whitecap-published paperback is the single best investment you can make when setting out to acquire Okanagan wine.” —Jurgen Gothe, the

Georgia Straight

Product Description

The lush Okanagan Valley is internationally acclaimed for its wine industry. Updated and revised with more than 60 percent new material, John Schreiner's Okanagan Wine Tour Guide provides succinct insider profiles of each of the region's 129 wineries, and for the first time covers winery producers from Creston, BC. Included are thumbnail sketches of wineries and winemakers, as well as everything you need to know to take a fascinating self-guided tour through the valley that produces 95 percent of British Columbia's wines. Schreiner peppers the book with fascinating facts acquired through his own winery visits, and gives his recommendations about what to sample from each cellar. Maps, addresses, telephone numbers, and website addresses round out this comprehensive guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming Book, May 19 2006
By A Customer
John Schreiner's Okanagan Wine Tour Guide is a charming look at the wineries, winemakers, and growers of the Okanagan Valley.

If you are looking for an actual 'Tour Guide' this is not it. For that you are better off visiting something along the lines of "The Okanagan Wine Guide" (can be found for free online).

However, for a great look at the Okanagan Wine Industry from the inside out, and to really get to know the wineries that form its backbone, this is a must read.

We used the book to decide which wineries to visit. It gave good descriptions with lots of insider information.

Buy this book BEFORE you go and read it! Knowing something about the wineries before you arrive makes for a great introduction. It also is an ice-breaker when you are speaking with one of the owners and can relate something you have read in the book. Check out some of the lesser known wineries and you will be pleasantly surprised....Silver Sage and Rustico Cellars....looking for photos? Google 'Grape Escape' for our 2011 trip through Okanagan and Napa Valleys!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Have WIne Touring Guide, Jun 27 2011
By Laurie Carter - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: John Schreiner's Okanagan Wine Tour Guide (Paperback)
John Schreiner is the guru. I live in the Okanagan Valley and I consider this book a must-have reference when trying to keep up with the burgeoning wine industry here. I immediately buy each new addition as soon as it comes out. What I like best about the book is the backstory on the people involved with the wineries. You can get tasting notes on a website, but Schreiner introduces the faces and interesting stories behind the labels and marketing. I think so highly of Schreiner and his guide that I referred to him several times in my own book, Grandma Wears Hiking Boots: a personal guide to the Okanagan Valley.Grandma Wears Hiking Boots: A personal guide to the Okanagan Valley
