This is a nice little reference book, well illustrated, with thick pages and a spiral binding. I'm very impressed with it so far but have only gotten part way through.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful and informative, but..... March 13 2012
Format:Spiral-bound|Verified Purchase
This book is useful and presents information that I learned as a schoolboy. It is clear and informative, but lacks the detailed overview of joinery found in "Illustrated Cabinetmaking" by Bill Hylton. The latter does a better job of describing the use of each type of joint in woodworking in my opinion. However, the latter is less workshop friendly, as the Joint Book is spiral bound. It does an excellent job of illustrating each joint and the associated marking tools. It explains problems such as shrinkage of the wood for different types of cut, as well as the forces in the wood and ways to minimize said forces in woodworking joints. Good workshop book, rather than a bookshelf book. A worthwhile addition.
