VIDEO:
Taylor Swift's Journey to Fearless arrives at blu ray with MPEG-4 AVC 1080i 1.78:1 encode. The image is clear, crisp, and stable, yielding strong details and fantastic colour reproduction. Colours absolutely sparkle. Her red lips literally pop off the screen. This transfer reveals the components and layers of Swift's makeup in close-up shots, not to mention the intricate textures that are visible in her outfits and on her guitar. Skin tone is very natural. The concert portion of the video has the best looking appearance. (4.5/5)
AUDIO:
The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 lossless soundtrack properly shows off Swift's spunky, energetic music. And the track creates a seamless sense of spacing across the front. It is exceptionally clean, with tight bass. Dialogue was very clear. For older folks like myself, I really appreciate the insertion of subtitles for all spoken words and singing (just like Lady Gaga's recent blu ray disc). I am not familiarized with all her songs that I can sing along, but now with the subtitles, it really improves and adds to my enjoyment of her songs and appreciation of her talent as a song-writer, from reading the lyrics. CONCERT:
Journey to Fearless arrives after Taylor's more current Speak Now World Tour Live.
Journey to Fearless is her first headlining tour as she celebrates the success of her multi-platinum album Fearless. Packed with 13 incredible live performances, rare home movies and revealing interviews with Taylor and her inner circle, this concert special takes us from her earliest days as an aspiring singer-songwriter, through the stories that inspired her biggest songs, and finally to her triumphant arrival as a global superstar in this two-and-a-half-hour Journey to Fearless. The personal interview and story behind this song was certainly well done. It helps me to understand more deeply the story behind each song. To me, seeing Taylor hugging everybody (a special part of the concert), very down-to-earth showing of affection to the band members and dancers, treating them as part of the family, the various meetings with fans in the arena, really shows off Taylor's genuine desire to be kind, affectionate, and caring to all her fans and her inner circle. I was also very impressed by how professional she is, behind the scene and especially how poise she was at such a young age in front of the adoring audience. I also learned that it was her mom that painted "13" on her right hand before each concert...her lucky number! (5/5)
I cannot help comparing the above two discs. Journey to Fearless showed how Taylor got started and how she connected with her fans, plus all the songs from Fearless performed live. Speak Now World Tour Live is pure concert at its best. I could tell the maturity of Taylor Swift as a performer, with added charm and poise, at the Speak Now concert. If you have a chance, you should watch Fearless first, then Speak Now live. You will truly appreciate how talented and mature this pretty young lady is (being the youngest person to win Album of the Year Grammy award). She is like a sparkling bright star, who will shine for a long, long time. Our reigning pop princess! The disc is naturally highly recommended. I hope the above review is helpful to you.
