My doctor told me my metabolism had slowed with middle age, so I bought this book. It's well written and does make sense, and I had high hopes.

I did the exercises faithfully for over two weeks. One evening, I began yawning and couldn't stop. It interfered with my sleep. I couldn't get through a bowl of cereal without having to set it aside to yawn several times. This is the fourth day of yawning, and it isn't letting up.

I don't know why this is happening, but it's obviously a direct result of doing the exercises in the book. If you're going to try this regime, I strongly suggest you contact a breathing expert or doctor first.

Jumpstart Your Metabolism opened to me a whole new way of thinking about the way the human body works. It finally gives a rational solution to the weary and confused dieter. I have so much more confidence and fewer weight fluxuations since learning about the power of breathwork. There are a host of other books and studies on the subject which I have been exploring since reading Grout's book. The key truly is oxygen, and getting enough is so imperative to health (including weight loss) that I am suprised how few people know about it. Definitely read this book, and others on breathing, if you want to feel, look, and live better.
