Product Description

From the Author

How this story came to be:

"I was visiting the Northwest Territories and this kind man from Hay River lent me his truck so I wouldn't get stuck while driving around. When I got back to his home to return the truck, his daughter Ciara was there all ready for a hockey game—she was in her team uniform and her mom was going to drive her all the way across town to the rink.

I asked them why there wasn't a rink on the river right near their house. Ciara's dad explained that the river ice was a mess. But Ciara agree that it would be nice to play on a rink close by.

Right then a story came into my head! I wrote it on my plane ride to Edmonton, sent it to Ciara, and asked if she wanted to be in a book."

What can I say, loved it, I love everything Robert Munsch has ever written. My granddaughter loves it too.
It's great that a girl who loves playing hockey is the main character. It's quickly become one of her favorites
that she wants read to her every night.

Good hockey book for my toddler! I recommend for any family looking for a hockey book, but with that special Munsch charm!

Robert Munsch uses conjunctive words like And and But at the beginning of a sentence. The words And and But should not be used to begin a sentence this is bad grammar. I don't understood why Munsch is such a popular writer of children's books when he cannot begin a sentence properly. The funny thing is his books get edited before they are published and the people who are checking his work do not spot his mistakes. Children who read his books are going to pick up his bad grammar habits when they begin writing. To think a person with Munsch's experience and writing about 50 children's books would have been much better at simple sentence structure. I bet that many of his books are also in the school libraries and teachers read Munsch's books to their pupils on a regular basis. How come those teaches have not complained about the bad grammar in his books and tried to rectify the problem? Instead the children are learning to read books like Robert Munsch's and maybe other writer's who continue to roll out books that compromise our children's ability to write well structured sentences.
