Let me start out by saying, I'm not sure how I ever lived without this flat iron! I started regularly flat ironing my hair about 2 years ago, and for most of that time I used Remmington T-Studio Series flat irons. The price was the major deciding factor in why I didn't buy a better brand, but after noticing the damage they were inflicting on my hair (even with a heat protecting spray) I figured I needed to act.
I did ALOT of looking around for a good brand, and I happened across a styling video with a girl using a KQC flat iron. After doing some more research, I decided to get a KQC over a CHI, because of the following reasons: CHI flat iron's temperature only goes up 410 degrees Fahrenheit, and KQC's Turbo 2 flat iron can go all the way up to 450 if you desire. I don't know about you guys, but my extremely thick, tightly-curled, half-African hair needs more than 410, or I'd be at it for half a day (my Remmington went up to 430, and that still took a while). And I believe the technology behind KQC is superior to that of the CHI brand. And I have had CHI flat iron used on my hair before when my hairdresser cuts it. I noticed that whenever she did use it, the CHI was better than my Remmington, but the end result wasn't THAT fantastic; I figured there had to be something better. And there is. :)
One of the benefits I've noticed while using it is the amount of time it takes to style my hair. Before while I was using the Remmington, it took a little over 2 hours to do, now it takes me a little over 1 hour. I can DO more with this flat iron. I can give my hair some volume by flipping my roots, which I could never do well with my old flat iron. I can flip my hair in or out at the ends, and I can even curl it. It's just easier to use in general. I would really suggest you decide that you're worth splurging on, and don't listen to the people who say that Remmington's (or any brand you can buy in a drug store) are the same as CHI's or KQC's; they're not.
As far the actual integrity of my hair, it's night and day in comparison. Not only did I start using KQC's flat iron in place of my old one, but I also started using their Thermal Shine Spray as my new heat protecting spray (I was using CHI 44 Iron Guard before). HOLY CRAP. The two combined makes it look like I was naturally born with shiny, soft, silky, effortlessly beautiful hair. Looking back, my old hair was kinda like dark brown hay on my head, even when styled. Now there isn't that really-stick-straight-sorta-hard-to-move deal going on anymore. Even when my hair's resting on days that I don't straighten, it looks well cared for, almost like nothing had ever tried to burn it. And when I do straighten my hair using the KQC, it'll last as long as I can without wetting my hair! The longest I ever went was 3 days, and before you go "Ew! Gross!", I took a shower in between those days using a shower cap. My hair was still perfectly straight and silky smooth, up until I washed it. On high-humidity hot summer days, it still holds up; a couple times some raindrops got me a little wet, and it didn't look any different.
I would recommend this product to anyone, man or woman, looking for a PHENOMENAL styling tool. A worthwhile investment! I'm a very happy customer!
