Book Description

The Kabbalist Rabbi Laitman, who was the student and personal assistant to Rabbi Baruch Ashlag from 1979-1991, follows in the footsteps of his rabbi in passing on the wisdom of Kabbalah to the world. This book is based on sources that were passed down by Rabbi Baruch's father, Rabbi Yehuda Ashlag, the author of the commentaries on The Book of Zohar, who continued the ways of many great Kabbalists throughout the generations before them. The goal of this book is to assist individuals in confronting the first stages of the spiritual realm. This unique method of study, which encourages sharing this wisdom with others, not only helps overcome the trials and tribulations of everyday life, but initiates a process in which individuals extend themselves beyond the standard limitations of today's world.

About the Author

A scientist by profession, Rabbi Laitman arrived in Israel in 1974 at the age of 27. Completely secular at the time, his search for spirituality eventually brought him to study under Rabbi Baruch Ashlag, the son of Rabbi Yehuda Ashlag (Baal HaSulam). He served as the personal assistant to Rabbi Baruch Ashlag from 1979 to 1991, and upon his rabbi's passing, was handed down personal transcripts from one of the greatest Kabbalists of our time. Having studied Kabbalah for over 30 years, Rabbi Laitman presents a scientific approach to spiritual evolvement that is based on the writings of Rabbi Yehuda Ashlag and other great Kabbalists throughout the generations. An eloquent writer and public speaker, his words inspire individuals around the world to accelerate the spirituality of mankind through the study of Kabbalah.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fabulous introduction to the study of Kabbalah., Mar 16 2003
By
This review is from: Kabbalah For Beginners (Paperback)
What is the meaning of my life ? Is a question that has tormented man for centuries and has caused great philosophers the world over to seek an answer to a question that seemingly can't be answered. Kabbalah is a science which provides the answer to that question and this book will introduce the reader to that science.

I strongly reccommend this book to anyone wishing to get a genuine introduction to the wisdom of Kabbalah.

5.0 out of 5 stars Learning how to control our destiny, Mar 2 2003
This review is from: Kabbalah For Beginners (Paperback)
Excerpt from the introduction:

"The laws of nature, our place in the world and our behavior have been studied by scientists and philosophers for thousands of years.

Along with logical assumptions, science uses quantifiable research and data. Yet our scientists and researchers have discovered that the more they advance in their research, the more obscure and confusing they find the world to be.

The progress science has brought into the world is beyond doubt, yet it is limited. Man's inner world, his soul, behavior and sources of motivation cannot be measured by scientific tools. Man, the major component of the creation, is still left without knowledge about his role in this universe.

Man has always been looking for answers to the basic questions of life: Who am I? What is the purpose of my being here? Why does the world exist? Do we continue to exist after our physical being has completed its tasks?

In this world of constant pressure, some find temporary satisfaction in Eastern techniques, measures aimed at relaxation, or reducing suffering by minimizing personal expectations and desires. Various forms of meditation, nutrition, and physical and mental exercise quiet man's natural instincts and enable him to feel more comfortable from the point of view of his physical state. This process teaches him to lower his expectations, yet leaves him in conflict with his true desires.

Our life experience teaches us that we have unlimited desires but limited resources to satisfy them. This is the reason there is no way to completely avoid suffering. That is the subject of Kabbalah."
