Was a little disapointed with this one..., Nov 7 2010

To start, this book was VERY predictable, but that didn't bother me TOO much.
I quite enjoyed the fact that they didn't fall in bed together until page 100+. This allowed the readers time to learn about the main chacracter's history, their families, as well as time for the main charachters to learn about each other.
I liked the way Kade was portrayed. He is FINE and doesn't even know how good looking he is, he's strong yet very sensitive and wears his heart on his sleeve. What's not to like about that?
What really did concern me was the fact this Kade's son is allegedly 9 years old, but has trouble pronouncing simple words like "binoculars" and "San Francisco"? He sits on people's laps? Colors with crayons and runs out to show the picture to his dad and Kelsey??? Um, I'm a mother of 4 and this all sounds very much like what my 4 and 5 year olds do, NOT 9. I have a 10 year old and would be very concerned if he acted like Trent in this story.
My other concern is there was an entire conversation that repeated between Kade and Kelsey...what he did after high school, etc. It's almost as if that is where the "original" book left off and the "new" one began.
The "steamy sex scenes" were not so steamy. They were okay. I cannot remember if her other books were like this or not, but it was a few lines and they were DONE. I actually enjoyed the scenes BEFORE they went "all the way". SPOILER: the time when they went for a walk in the park and he brings her to orgasm by only sucking her breasts and the time he performs oral sex on the kitchen counter. The rest was meh...
Did I LOVE this book? No, but it was okay.
Will I buy the next in the series? Yes. I enjoyed the first two, especially "Zack", the first in the series.

where do I start?, Nov 4 2010

Have you ever read a book that you wanted the heroine to die in the end? This is that book. I enjoyed the first two Armed and Dangerous books but then this one came along. Brief synopses: Kade is an intelligence officer with the U.S. Border Patrol hunting down coyotes, human smugglers who bring illegal immigrants across the Mexico border into Arizona. Kelsey is a reporter heading to Arizona to write a series of articles about illegal immigration. They have a brief encounter at the airport then aboard the plane. And what a surprise, she just so happens to be staying at his home while writing her articles. That pretty much is the story, really. By page 39, Kade is already in love and ready to commit to home and hearth, while she snivels and whines her way into his heart. Throw in a dramatic, if not ludicrous shoot out at the end and you have yourself 300 plus pages of nonsense.
I think this book felt very rushed with little story line, irritating characters, (even his son who is 9 but sounds like he should be in pre-school, I mean, crayons, at your age, c'mon!) stilted conversations, and really, nothing that makes you want to continue the torture. And by the way, does anyone else think she looks like a manniquin on the cover? I'm just saying.
I will certainly think twice before I drop more cash on the next Armed and Dangerous book.

New Publisher / old story, Nov 17 2010

It is very disappointing when an author switches publishers and then reworks a previously published book (by a different publisher) with renamed characters. I too enjoyed "Wild Borders" but if I wanted to read that story again I simply would've picked up my copy of it instead of purchasing "Kade". Never again will I pre-order a book written by this author.
