Poor support, technical incompetence, Aug 3 2011

The book itself is a moderately useful overview of the concepts and problems covered on the exam, and has a number of practice questions and exercises that should come in handy. However, the product does not provide what it advertises, and their customer support does not offer any kind of equitable solution to that problem.The product is advertised clearly as having a CD-ROM for the purpose of conveniently taking practice tests on one's own computer. None of the advertising anywhere suggests that having a modern (i.e. Windows 7) operating system will prevent you from accessing the contents of the CD.
I purchased this version specifically because of the CD-ROM practice exams and content. Not having a stable internet connection in home, I am now forced to take the practice exams on their website in a public area.
When I contacted customer support, they simply sent repeated form letters and insisted that the specifications were clearly stated. Yes, clearly stated buried 5 pages into the book.
It is unforgivable that a computing product could be provided in 2011 without compatibility with the second most commonly used operating system on the planet, and with no notice of that fact in the bargain.

It is ridiculous to not offer a cd-rom disc that is not compatible with windows vista or windows 7 when every new computer that one buys comes with it preinstalled. I am very disappointed in Kaplan for this.

The material in the book is alright, nothing awful, nothing special. It is good enough to get you started. However, the reason that this book is getting a 2 star is that the CD and software is buggy. I couldn't get the CD to work on windows. When I started to take the practice tests online, it just gave me the number of questions that I got right and which of them I got right. However, there was no way to go back to the questions and check for mistakes. It sends a link via email that supposedly contains a review of the questions, however, that link just gives a totally different sets of questions, with no explanations whatsoever.So if you are looking for a practice book, this is not the one, the only purpose the practice exam on this book serve is to simulation a timed exam situation, that's all. There is no way to review the exam/questions after you are done, to check what you did wrong, and there are no explanations provided. Very disappointed with this product.
