Great if you exchange data with Windows users, Oct 25 2010

Well, I highly disagree with this user's review. Internet Security Barrier X6 can really screw up your Mac's Internet experience - monitors too many activities, causing extreme slow downs & possible system crashes. Kapersky on the other hand is low over head (you shouldn't notice any degradation in your Mac's performance) it's just looking for parasites that you might transmit to your Windows brethren. I think this reviewers software issues stemmed from existing problems and installing Karpersky was the last straw.
I also prefer Karpersky for my Windows computers due to low overhead but as any Virus protector on Windows it can become a nuisance with popups and other notices.
For Mac internet security I recommend: Little Snitch (let's you know when resident software is making internet inquiries, Kapersky to protect Windows users from parasites when you exchange data (email, ftp, etc....). and Apple's firewall to intercept incoming meanies.
Norton sucked on OS X.
I've been a Mac support professional for the last 30 years and I am not affiliated with any of the companies mentioned in this post.

WARNING: NOT COMPATABLE WITH OS-X LION!, Sep 14 2011

I have always been a Kaspersky fan, having it on my PC and my iMac OS-X running version 10.5.8, but after I installed this on my brand spanking new MacBook Air the bloody thing crashed my computer. I got the dreaded warning in twenty-two languages and when it rebooted it sat and spun without ever booting up. Good thing I ordered Mac OS-X Lion for Dummies (me) several weeks ago because I needed the chapter on Troubleshooting and Reinstalling the system from Time Machine. If you are running the new OS-X Lion: DO NOT ORDER THIS SOFTWARE! IT IS NOT COMPATABLE WITH THE NEW LION AND WILL KILL YOUR SYSTEM! Thank goodness I took the time to format an external 500 GB Toshiba drive and used my Time Machine to backup the computer. I thought I would be holding the bag on a dead MacBook Air 11.6.....I had to go change my underwear!

Causes hard locks at shutdown/restart on a clean OS install, Sep 15 2011
By Brian McGroarty - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mac (CD-ROM)
Many users in the Kaspersky support forums report that Kaspersky for Mac prevents clean shutdowns. The Mac has to be forced to shut off by holding the power button for several seconds. For me, this is reproducible on an early 2009 iMac and with a 2010 MacBook Air. The problem persists even after a clean OS install with nothing but KAV reinstalled - I only have to launch and exit a few apps before I can't do a clean shutdown.
Even turning off real time protection doesn't prevent the problem. Uninstalling KAV is the only thing that allows clean shutdowns/restarts and prevents occasional drive corruption.
Kaspersky took months to acknowledge the problem. When they did, they asked people to wait a few months more for an update, then asked if the update had helped. It didn't. That cycle repeated a few times, with months between updates.
At this point (September 2011), I'm 10 months into a 2 year software subscription that I can't use. I'd advise against a purchase until you can confirm that this problem has been solved.
