Book Description

Aug 7 2012 Kaze Hikaru (Book 20)
A historical romance set in the time of Rurouni Kenshin!

Reads R to L (Japanese Style), for audiences rated teen plus.

In the 1860s in Japan, a new era is dawning. During this time fraught with violent social upheaval, samurai of all walks of life flock to Kyoto in the hope of joining a band of warriors united around their undying loyalty to the Shogunate system. This group became one of the greatest (and most infamous) movements in Japanese history...the Shinsengumi!

Hijikata decides to make use of Kamiya's feminine features and sends "him" out dressed as a woman on a spy mission. Her assignment: to ascertain the whereabouts of the notorious enemy leader Sakamoto Ryoma. Soji, left in the dark about the secret mission, sets off to find Kamiya. The two get more than they bargained for when they come face-to-face with the enemy himself!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Aug 9 2012

This series is romantic, funny, excellently written from real historical events, and just beautifully drawn page after page. I can't suggest this series *strongly enough*. There is a reason it's at 20 books and still running. Find book 1 and it a try. It's well worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Quality Volume Aug 10 2012
By C.O. - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The 20th volume of this on-going shoujo series is just as enjoyable as the ones before it. Watanabe remains a skilled storyteller and mangaka. In this volume, Sei goes "undercover" as a girl to find information about an assassin, leaving Soji to sort out his feelings. While sadly the main couple doesn't have a ton of interaction in these chapters, we see Soji's beginning to come to a certain understanding...

As always, Viz's translation is top quality. It is a historical series, but the language is not clunky or archaic. If you haven't picked up the previous volumes, you should. Kaze Hikaru may be a bit slower, but it's a rewarding and addicting read.
