I found Kendra Kandlestar and the Crack in Kazah to be a cross between Hans Christian Anderson's "The Snow Quees" and "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" with a little of "Harry Potter" thrown in. It was fun, imaginative and completely delightful. I can't wait to read it to my grandchildren. I know they'll love the books, especially the illustrations. Although evidently written for a younger group, I thoroughly enjoyed the adventures of Kendra and look forward to reading the rest of the books. I'm very surprised that I haven't heard of this series before now. It should be made required reading material for grades 4 or 5. Give the kids something to use their imagination on other than video games and movies. It deserves a higher grade than 5 stars but, what can you do. I'd recommend it to all those who are still young at heart and enjoy little things like magic, talking animals, adventure and believing in the impossible. It really enlarges your field of imagination.
