Product Description

From School Library Journal

Grade 4-6–The siblings from the On the Run series (Scholastic) return for a new adventure. Aiden and Meg are having some difficulties adjusting to normal life after being fugitives while their parents were wrongly held in prison. Fast-paced and true to Kormans style, the novel has a cliff-hanger ending to every chapter. By page 10, Meg has been abducted. Only Aiden knows her well enough to interpret the clever clue she leaves, and he must learn to trust the man whom they previously saw as their enemy. The book will be popular with readers who want to know what happened after Meg and Aiden went home in the earlier titles, but it wont make much sense to anyone else.–Sharon R. Pearce, Chippewa Elementary School, Bensenville, IL

From Booklist

Gr. 4-7. From the very first page, the action is nonstop in this breathless thriller, the first book in Korman's Kidnapped series. Meg, 11, is abducted on her way home from school. Her brother, Aiden, 15, works with the FBI to find her and deliver the ransom money. In the meantime, Meg fights back with muscle and wit, even managing to sneak out an SOS letter. The hurtling plot, with mysterious meetings and high-tech surveillance, shifts between the two kids' viewpoints. As the first book in the Kidnapped series, this doesn't end with a rescue, and the references to what happened before this story actually begins (the kids' parents were framed for aiding terrorists and the kids survived as fugitives) are a bit confusing. Still, even reluctant readers will be asking for the second book, The Search, which is also now available. Hazel Rochman

5.0 out of 5 stars READ THIS BOOk, Mar 9 2007
This review is from: Kidnapped #1: The Abduction (Paperback)
Kidnapped Book: one The Abduction

What's the worst thing that has happened in your life...? Well have you ever thought of being kidnapped? Meg is a 11 year old girl that gets kidnapped when walking home from school with her brother Aiden. Meg's family tries to get her back with the help of the FBI. Megs gets kept in the storage closet where the three kidnappers live. The kidnappers ask for different things like money if Meg's family wants to get her back.
Some good things about the book was the suspense. A book with suspense is exciting and makes you wonder about the idea. Gordon Korman the author left me in suspense at the end of some chapters. I think the prologue was boring and confusing. All it talked about was how Meg and Aiden's parents were in jail. If you really like reading Kidnapped then you can follow along in the next two books, they are three in the series.
Gordon Korman has made the characters come alive. They are so unique and different. One of the main characters is Meg, Meg is 11 years old. She is my favourite character. She tries new things and doesn't give up. I think she is unique because she tries new things. She also has an older brother Aiden. He is 15 years old. Aiden likes to do different things too. Some other characters are the FBI. The FBI are a group of men that work together to get Meg back. There are also the parents of Meg and Aiden. They also try to save Meg. They have both been in jail. Then there is the three kidnappers Mickey, Spidy and Tiger. Mickey and Spidy are men and Tiger is a woman. They are hard kidnappers to convince them to give back Meg. Mickey is the nicest kidnapper; he only kidnaps kids for the money. I can only relate to Meg because I like to try new things too.

There are also many different themes in this book. I learned that you should keep trying and never give up. I learned it when Aiden was so close to finding Meg but he found the wrong person. Aiden never gave up and kept trying to find her. Another theme that I thought was really great was to not get excited when you want to do something but you don't know if something will go wrong. I learned this when Meg was in the kidnapper's car and she was trying to reach the door handle and she did, but When the kidnappers saw her they pulled her back and she couldn't get out of the car. Those are only some of the themes in this book. There are many different other themes in this book.
The setting in this book is very unique. I think it is because usually in books they wouldn't have a place like a storage closet. I also think the setting in the truck makes the book have suspense. I think that because when Meg is in the truck and it makes the book have suspense because you're wondering if she's going to escape from the truck. I think the setting is also bad in a way, because its just there and there are so many places that they all aren't described in detail very well. So I think the setting is unique because it makes the book have suspense but it also is not very good because it does not describe very well.
The author of this book is Gordon Korman and I think he is a very good author. He has more than 40 books for children and adults. There are many different series that Gordon Korman has written like Everest, kidnapped and dive etc. Gordon Korman also does a good job by not making the characters to good or bad. He does rush the book which makes it hard to understand. The book is a realistic fiction. I have read many different books that he has written.
I the author Gordon Korman did a good job not making the book too good or too bad. Instead he made the book have a bit of both. There also is a lot of suspense in the book. I would recommend this book to you because it had great words. I also would because the author describes mostly every thing really good excepted the setting. I would recommend the book to kids the age of 7-12 years old. It was one of my favourite books. It was great and you should read it too

Picture this--you and your sibling are walking home from school and all of a sudden, someone is attacking you and trying to kidnap you. Then instead of taking both of you they just take your younger sibling.

Well, this happened to ex-fugitive Aiden Falconer. The FBI accused his parents of doing something illegal so they went to jail for almost a year while Aiden and Meg were running away from the police so they wouldn't have to go into a temporary home. Then the FBI figured out they falsely accused the Falconers. When they got out of jail there were a lot of people who still believed they had done something wrong. Aiden and Meg called them Falconer-haters.

One day after school they were coming home from the bus and this van drives by slowly. They think nothing of it, but then it stops and two people come out and start attacking them. They can't get Aiden, so they take Meg and drive off.

After Aiden tries to chase after the van and can't catch it, he runs home and tells his parents. They call the local police. Then the FBI gets involved, so they call in special agent Emanuel Harris--the same agent who had arrested the Falconer parents in the first place. They tell the media. They hope they can find her soon!

THE ABDUCTION is great! It is the beginning of a three book series, KIDNAPPED. Gordon Korman really knows how to write a suspenseful book and make you want to read more and more. There are so many twists and turns, this book is sure to keep you on edge!

This review is from: Kidnapped #1: The Abduction (Paperback)
It's every brother's worst fear: As Aiden and his sister,Meg,are walking home from school and one day a van past and take Meg and she was kidnap. He's the only witness to his sister disappearance.

Why is Meg kidnap? For ransom? As a vendetta against Meg and Aiden's parents? Or is there an even bigger conspiracy at work? While Meg fends off her kidnapers and plans an escape.Aiden must team up with the FBI to try to find her-tracking down clues and only his brother Aiden could recognize her.

I think this book is good because it have a lot of action and details. This book is 5 on 5 because its not hard to understand and its long but its FUN.
