I have to state that I generally like this series of classis re-illustrated as edited by Roy Thomas. The stories picked are the most suitable for re-telling in comics form. Generally the artists selected are highly competent and complement the edited text.One cannot really go wrong with the text of this classic tale by Stevenson. Most of the key scenes and dialogue lines are there. Any descriptive text is best left to the artist or one's imagination.
However, in this issue, the artist is absolutely NOT suitable. The comics inside bear absolutely no resemblance to the beautiful cover page. The artwork inside is a mess, with badly disfigured figures wearing wrong period costumes. In this day and age of the Internet, it is unacceptable that an artist does not reference the period properly in order to draw figures wearing the correct period costumes. He has British troops wearing French-like shakos of the Napoleonic period operating just after the Jacobite rebellion??? Never mind that his cityscape features people wearing Victorian period costumes. As this is a comic, not just a novel, this is a total disaster.

I couldn't get into this book because of the slang used that made it hard to read, but this comic has made me at least want to try and read this book again.
