Still, middle-school bakers will enjoy tackling the recipes on their own, and the color photos of preschool and elementary-age children confidently stirring and shaping dough will encourage very young children to participate. With the possible exception of the fruitcake recipes, the selection of decadent cakes and cookies will appeal to young sugar hounds, and a few savory bread recipes close the volume.
