This book is just incredible. I have not seen another kids sewing book with as many projects and the low price is unbelievable.

Packed with info, photos, and illustrations. Will appeal to a variety of people, not just kids. Great instructions and fun projects and the trouble shooting tips are something more books should offer. From hand stitching basics to making a smocked dress and a hooded vest. Excellent book!

I love this book and Kids can Quilt by Dorothy Stapleton. They are both packed with projects and great for beginners. A must have if you want a really great place to start or to add to a collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT JUMPSTART TO SEWING!, Nov 13 2008

I purchased this book at a bookstore after thumbing through it on a few occasions. It's well thought out. It's geared towards children, yet many of the projects would interest an adult beginner as well in my opinion. It builds on your new skills, it goes from kid oriented finger puppets to more advanced projects like, a short reversible skirt, a Japanese quilted bag, a big beach bag & hat, items I think adults may find more interesting. I'm an adult intimidated by sewing and this book got me started fast. I should note that this book does have a short section devoted to the BASICS of using a sewing machine, but in my opinion this book gives you a good foundation in hand stitching/sewing techniques and you move on from there. I didn't have a sewing machine at the time so I liked that the projects could also be done by hand, of course a machine saves time on some of the projects. Young and old alike should check out this book, there are even more nice projects than the ones I mentioned, there's even a section on slippers and the tomato pin cushion is useful and a delight.
